Developing Problem Solving in Mathematics (23rd January 2pm-3:30pm)

The CPD session will explore the problem-solving strategies children can use to solve mathematical puzzles and problems independently.

It will focus on some of the key heuristics that equip children to become successful problem solvers including making a systematic list, acting it out, drawing a picture and ‘guess-check-improve’.

Delegates will consider the value of using worked examples to support pupils to think flexibly and logically in order to make sense of increasingly complex problems.
